Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer has officially announced his retirement from international football. Sommer has just started his new season with Inter Milan after playing for Switzerland at Euro 2024 in the summer.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper has finally decided to retire from international football with Switzerland after serving his country for 12 years UFABET

Sommer made his international debut in 2012 and has made 94 appearances across six major tournaments, including the 2014 World Cup, Euro 2016, World Cup 2018, Euro 2020, World Cup 2022 and Euro 2024.

The person who will step up to become the new number one is Gregor Kobel of Borussia Dortmund.

Sommer made his Switzerland debut in May 2012 in a friendly match against Romania. He became a mainstay in the squad and, while he did not feature at the 2014 World Cup, he swiftly established himself as his nation’s No1 goalkeeper. He helped Switzerland reach the Round of 16 at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups and was also between the sticks for his country at three UEFA European Championship competitions. The quarter-final penalty-shootout defeat to England at the 2024 EURO proved to be his last game for the national team.

At club level, Sommer has represented FC Basel, FC Vaduz, Grasshoppers, Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayern Munich as well as current club Inter Milan, where he won the Serie A title in 2023/24.
